Joshua Robert Abraham Dean (born 1999 or 2000) is a BritishLabour Party politician who has beenMember of Parliament (MP) forHertford and Stortford since2024.[2] Before becoming an MP, he was elected as a Councillor forHertford Town Council[3] in the2023 United Kingdom local elections.

Early life and education

Dean attendedRichard Hale School, leaving 'directionless' at 18. He then worked, including at his localStarbucks, for a number of years, and was still living at his mother's home when elected.[4][5] In 2020, he founded "Stortford Against Rhodes", which was successful in its campaign to renameRhodes Birthplace Trust, in the wake of theBlack Lives Matter movement.[6] On becoming an MP, he was a student at theUniversity of Hull, studying Politics and International Relations, needing to finish his dissertation before he could graduate.[7]

Parliamentary career

In November 2024, Dean voted in favour of theTerminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legaliseassisted suicide.[8]
