John Joseph Carty (April 14, 1861 – December 27, 1932) was an Americanelectrical engineer and a major contributor to the development oftelephone wires and related technology. He was a recipient of theEdison Medal. As Chief Engineer ofAT&T, he was instrumental in the development of the first transcontinental telephone line.[1] Carty was president of theAmerican Institute of Electrical Engineers from 1915 to 1916.
He died atJohns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on December 27, 1932.[2]
