Iodosyl pentafluoride is aninorganic compound ofiodine,fluorine, andoxygen with the chemical formulaIOF5.
Iodosyl pentafluoride forms a colorless liquid.[5] The molecule ofIOF5 is a distorted octahedron O=I(F4)–F.[6] Its melting point 4.5 °C.[3]
The compound reacts withgraphite to form a black graphite intercalation compound.[7] Iodosyl pentafluoride also forms adducts witharsenic pentafluoride andantimony pentafluoride.[8]
