InGreek mythology ,Ialmenus orIalmenos (/aɪ ˈ æ l m ɪ n ə s / ;Ancient Greek : Ἰάλμενος) was a son ofAres [ 1] andAstyoche , and twin brother ofAscalaphus .[ 2] Together with his brother he sailed with theArgonauts ,[ 1] among thesuitors of Helen ,[ 3] and led theOrchomenian contingent in theTrojan War .[ 4]
Unlike Ascalaphus, Ialmenus survived the war. He was said to have ended up inColchis , where he founded a colony, the inhabitants of which were later referred to as the "Achaeans ofPontus ".[ 5]
