Ialmenus

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

InGreek mythology,Ialmenus orIalmenos (/ˈælmɪnəs/;Ancient Greek: Ἰάλμενος) was a son ofAres[1] andAstyoche, and twin brother ofAscalaphus.[2] Together with his brother he sailed with theArgonauts,[1] among thesuitors of Helen,[3] and led theOrchomenian contingent in theTrojan War.[4]

Unlike Ascalaphus, Ialmenus survived the war. He was said to have ended up inColchis, where he founded a colony, the inhabitants of which were later referred to as the "Achaeans ofPontus".[5]
