Lieutenant ColonelHugh Henry John Seymour (25 September 1790 – 2 December 1821)[1] was aBritish Army officer and a politician. He sat in theHouse of Commons of the United Kingdom forCounty Antrim from 1818 until his death.[2]
Seymour was the second son of Vice-Admiral Hon.Lord Hugh Seymour Conway (1759–1801) ofHambledon in Hampshire, a younger son of the1st Marquess of Hertford. His mother Lady Anna Horatia Waldegrave, was the daughter and co-heir of the2nd Earl Waldegrave, Colonel SirHorace Beauchamp Seymour was his younger brother.[2]
In 1818, he marriedLady Charlotte Georgiana Cholmondeley, daughter ofGeorge Cholmondeley, 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley. They had one son:[2]
Seymour was educated atHarrow.[2]He joined theBritish Army in 1805 as anensign in theScots Guards. He was promoted tocaptain in 1811, and tolieutenant colonel in 1815.[2]He became an equerry in ordinary in 1818, and in 1820 he became a lieutenant colonel onhalf-pay of the71st (Highland) Regiment of Foot.[2]
