Thehighland brush mouse (Abeomelomys sevia), also known as theMenzies' mouse,[1] is aspecies ofrodent in the familyMuridae. It isendemic to theNew Guinea Highlands (Papua New Guinea) where it is found inmontane moss forests and in alpine zones over 2,000 m. It is theonly species in thegenusAbeomelomys, although it has been placed inPogonomelomys in the past.
It is known asymgenm[jí.mɨŋɡé.nɨ́m] (oryamganm[já.mɨŋɡá.nɨ́m]) in theKalam language ofPapua New Guinea.[2]
