Hessea is a genus of bulb-forming plants in theAmaryllis family native toNamibia andSouth Africa.[2][3][4][5] The genus name commemoratesC. H. F. Hesse (1772–1832), who resided inCape Town from 1800 to 1817.[6]
The stigma is trifid.[7]
It was published byWilliam Herbert in 1837[1][7] withHessea stellaris(Jacq.) Herb. as the type species.[1]
