Helen Margaret ClarkeMNZM (néeShearer, born 16 April 1971) is a formerfield hockey goalkeeper and captain for New Zealand, who competed in three Summer Olympics:1992,2000 and2004.[1]

Clarke earned a record 166 caps for her country[2] and was appointed aMember of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the2005 New Year Honours for services to hockey.[3] She was also a member of theNew Zealand team at the1998 Commonwealth Games inKuala Lumpur, where she won a bronze medal, the2002 Commonwealth Games inManchester,[1] and twoWorld Cups.[4] She retired from the sport after the2004 Olympic Games inAthens.[2] She has taught physical education and English atMount Roskill Grammar School in Auckland.
