Heiko Heßenkemper (born 11 January 1956), also spelledHeiko Hessenkemper, is a German politician, until June 2021 for theAlternative for Germany, and was member of theBundestag from 2017 to 2021.
Heßenkemper was born 1956 in the West German town ofHamm and studiedphysics at theClausthal University of Technology. He became aprofessor in 1995.[1]
Heßenkemper entered the AfD in 2014 and became a member of the bundestag after the2017 German federal election[2]
Heßenkemper is considered to be part of theright-wing of the AfD.[3] He has participated inPegida demonstrations.[4]
Heßenkemper denies thescientific consensus on climate change.[5] Heßenkemper has stated that he will not be a candidate in the2021 German federal election.[6] He left AfD in June 2021, three months before the2021 federal election.[7]
