Hōshakuji Station (宝積寺駅,Hōshakuji-eki) is a junctionrailway station in the town ofTakanezawa, Tochigi, Japan, operated byEast Japan Railway Company (JR East). The station building was designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates.[citation needed] The station is also a freight terminal for theJapan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight).
Hōshakuji Station is served by theUtsunomiya Line (Tohoku Main Line), and is 121.2 km from the starting point of the line atTokyo. It is also aterminal station for theKarasuyama Line, a 20.4 km branch line toKarasuyama.
The station has an elevated station building, with oneside platform and oneisland platform underneath. The station has aMidori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office.

Hōshakuji Station opened on 21 October 1899.[1] With the privatization ofJapanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.
In fiscal 2019, the station was used by an average of 2251 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2] The passenger figures for previous years are as shown below.
