Glycerine acetate is a mixture ofesters produced from theesterification ofglycerol (1) withacetic acid. This reaction produces five congeners:

In addition, two of the congeners,2 and4, arechiral and can exist in either of twoenantiomeric forms.

DAG and TAG can be used as fuel additives for improving the cold andviscosity properties ofbiodiesel or theantiknocking properties ofgasoline.^[1]
