Hong Si-young (Korean: 홍시영; born January 24, 1991),[1] better known by his stage nameGiriboy (Korean: 기리보이), is a South Korean rapper and singer signed to theStandard Friends label.[2]
Giriboy began his musical career in 2011 with the single "You Look So Good to Me", released under Just Music, a label that had been recently founded by rapperSwings. The following year, he released the EPFatal Album, much of which he had written years earlier as a high school student. He released a second EP titledFatal Album II later that year.[3]
Giriboy competed on season three of the TV showShow Me the Money in 2014.[4] That year, he also entered the top 100 of theGaon Digital Chart for the first time with the single "Fluttering Feelings", a collaboration with singerNS Yoon-G. The song ultimately peaked at No. 6 on the chart.[5][6][unreliable source?]
In 2015, he appeared on the reality showNo Mercy, in which he collaborated on songs with the contestants (who would go on to form the boy groupMonsta X) and with established artistsSoyou andMad Clown.[7][8][unreliable source?] He also released the albumSexual Perceptions, which reached No. 10 on theGaon Album Chart in March.[9]
In 2016, he released his fourth album,Mechanical Album. In 2017, he released his fifth EP, called5 Songs For Initiation.[2] In December of the same year, he released his fifth album,Graduation.[citation needed]
In 2024, Giriboy signed to South Korean labelStandard Friends founded by artist Zion.T[10]
