George Peter Wilbur (March 6, 1941 – February 1, 2023) was an American actor and professional stuntman, best known for playingMichael Myers in bothHalloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers andHalloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.
George Peter Wilbur was born inConnecticut and served in theU.S. Navy. He worked as a wrangler on a ranch inTucson, Arizona, where he worked as an extra in the 1966 filmEl Dorado and was recruited as a stand-in performer forJohn Wayne. Wilbur later moved toCalifornia, where he worked as an extra and stunt double.[1]
Wilbur playedMichael Myers inHalloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers andHalloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.[2][3] He was credited as a stunt player inHalloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, anotherHalloween sequel, although not in the role of Michael Myers as actor and stuntmanDon Shanks played the role. His career as a stuntman lasted for 40 years and involved over 100 television and film projects. He was a member of the Hollywood Stuntmen'sHall of Fame.[4]
Wilbur was notably referenced in Family Guy, fictionalised as the stage name of character Tom Tucker earlier in his career. In the same episode, archive footage of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers featuring Wilbur as the titular character is played with Seth McFarlane voicing over the scene as Tom Tucker.
George P. Wilbur died on February 1, 2023, at the age of 81.[5][6]
