George Adams (born May 15, 1949) is an American former professionalbasketball player.
Born inKings Mountain, North Carolina, Adams playedcollege basketball for theGardner–Webb Runnin' Bulldogs. He is the leading scorer and rebounder in program history.[1] Adams played alongsideArtis Gilmore during the 1968–69 season; Bulldogs head coachEddie Holbrook considered Adams and Gilmore as "two of the hardest-working players [he] ever coached."[2]
Adams was selected by theMilwaukee Bucks in the third round of the1972 NBA draft.[3] He spent his playing career with theSan Diego Conquistadors of theAmerican Basketball Association (ABA) where he was coached byWilt Chamberlain andK. C. Jones.[3]
Adams was inducted into the Gardner–Webb Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.[1] He was inducted into the Cleveland County Fellowship of Christian Athletes Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.[4]
