Gayathripuzha River is one of the maintributaries of theBharathapuzha River, the second-longest river inKerala,south India.[1] It originates fromNelliyampathi hills, passes throughKollengode,Nenmara (Nemmara),Alathur,Padur andPazhayannur before joining the Bharathapuzha atMayannur. It is the second largest tributary of the Bharathapuzha, by both length and discharge. The Gayathripuzha flows mainly throughPalakkad district, except for the last few kilometres. The river is non-perennial like its parent river, and is also prone ofsand mining. There is a dam built across this river atCherakkuzhy near Pazhayannur.
