Galatea Ranzi (born 24 January 1967[1]) is an Italian film, stage and television actress.

Life and career

Born inRome, Ranzi studied acting at theAccademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico, graduating in 1988.[2][1] She made her stage debut in 1987, inLuca Ronconi'sAmor nello specchio, then she worked in numerous other productions directed by Ronconi, as well as in works directed by Cesare Lievi and Massimo Castri, among others.[2][1]

Ranzi made her film debut in 1993, inPaolo and Vittorio Taviani'sFiorile,[2][1] and for her performance she was nominated toNastro d'Argento forbest actress.[3] In 2005, she was nominated toDavid di Donatello forbest supporting actress thanks to her performance inGiuseppe Piccioni'sThe Life That I Want.[4]

In 2014, she was nominated toDavid di Donatello forbest supporting actress for her performance inPaolo Sorrentino'sThe Great Beauty.
