G3, or theGood Governance Group, is a strategic advisory consultancy which specialises in providing advice on risk mitigation,governance,cyber security andregulatory compliance.
The company was set up in 2004 by two former senior executives fromKroll Inc.[1] For a period of time it was owned byKinnevik and it was then subject to a management buyout.[2]
In 2011, it was reported that the company was linked to an incident involvingAdam Werritty, that led to the resignation of former UKSecretary of State for DefenceLiam Fox.[3][4][5]
In 2012, it was reported that the Group had received £1.5 million from the government ofBahrain for "a media campaign to support the Kingdom of Bahrain's stance before the international community", during theBahraini uprising.[6]
In June 2012, Proven acquired Palmer Legal Technologies, a provider of e-discovery anddigital forensics services tolitigation anddispute resolution teams involved in commercial litigation, internal compliance reviews and regulatory investigations.[7]
The firm has offices inLondon andNew York City and works with multinational corporations and financial institutions on dispute resolution, regulation and compliance, cyber security,reputation management, integrity due diligence and corporate social responsibility.[8]
The company also provides intelligence for businesses, such ascompetitor analysis andcyber security, including for the defence contractorBAE Systems.[3] The company was reported to be worth £20 million in 2011.[3]

- Dr.Chet Crocker - formerUSSecretary of State for African Affairs and former chairman and board member of theUnited States Institute of Peace. He is also a founding member of theGlobal Leadership Foundation and is theJames R. Schlesinger professor of strategic studies atGeorgetown University.[10]
- Gareth Bullock - former group executive director ofStandard Chartered, holding a number of positions at the bank over the years includingCEO of Africa, group CIO, and head of strategy. He is also a trustee of theBritish Council.[11]
- Tim Clark - former senior partner atSlaughter and May between 2001 and 2008. He is currently a non-executive director ofBig Yellow Group, a board member of theRoyal National Theatre, a senior advisor forChatham House and the chairman of the Economic Trust, among other roles.[12]
- Edward Chaplin - former British diplomat who spent much of his career in theMiddle East, including asBritish Ambassador to Jordan, director of the Middle East and North Africa in London, andBritish Ambassador to Iraq. He has also beenBritish Ambassador to Italy.[13]
- Lord David Gold - one of theUK’s leading litigation lawyers and founder of David Gold & Associates litigation advisors. He was formerly a senior litigation partner atHerbert Smith LLP.[14]
- Dr.August Hanning - former senior official inGerman andEuropean security and intelligence with an expertise in European politics emanating from his time as state secretary for the interior.[15]
- Anthony Rowell - formerForeign Service diplomat with experience in Europe andAfrica. After his diplomatic roles, he joined theBritish defence companyRacal Electronics.[16]
- Sir Stephen Wright - former diplomat until 2008, most recently asBritish Ambassador to Spain. He has also held roles as director general of defence and intelligence in theForeign and Commonwealth Office inLondon, as well as minister and deputy head of mission at theBritish Embassy in Washington.[16]
