Florijan Matekalo (Croatian pronunciation:[flǒrijaːnmatěːkalo];[1][2] 25 April 1920 – 20 May 1995) was afootballer who played international football for bothYugoslavia andCroatia.[3]
He scored the first goal in the history of the Croatia national team[4] and the first goal ever forFK Partizan.[5]
Matekalo debuted for theKingdom of Yugoslavia's national team (Beli Orlovi) in a November 1940friendly match againstNazi Germany and concurrently played all four matches for theBanovina of Croatia's national team, which represented the Croatian statelet within the kingdom.[6]
