FC Rukh Lviv (Ukrainian:ФК «Рух» Львів) is aUkrainian professionalfootball club based inLviv. The club competes in theUkrainian Premier League following the promotion as runners-up of2019–20 Ukrainian First League.
In 2003 under the initiativeMyron Markevych, who was born inVynnyky, and at the time was head coach ofFC Karpaty Lviv established football club calledFC Rukh Vynnyky. When asked whyRukh, Markevych replied that Movement (ukr. romanized: Rukh) is life. In June 2003, a children's football school Myron Markevych "Rukh" under directorship Yuriy Hdanskyi and trainers Roman Hdanskyi, Ihor Didyk, Markiyan Shkraba, Oleh Lehan was formed.[2]
In 2009, the Rukh adult soccer team with PresidentHryhoriy Kozlovskyy and head trainer Roman Hdanskyi was formed.[2] Since the team was located in Vynnyky which is a satellite town of the city ofLviv, so at a time teams participated separately inLviv Oblast League Championship and in Lviv the teams participated in the championship of the city.[2]The club holds matches at the stadium named afterBohdan Markevych (1925–2002, Myron Markevych's father), who was one of the main sponsors of the football club and the Youth Academy, who worked for many years as a junior's coach.[2]
In 2014, the team won theNational amateur football championship.
During the 2015 season, the club made sensations by signing formerDynamo Kyiv internationalsOleksandr Aliyev andMaksim Shatskikh.[3]
The club has been admitted to thePFL and took second place in the2016–17 Ukrainian Second League.[4]
On 26 June 2017, the club presented a new emblem in golden and black colors.[5]
