European route E 50 is an A-type east–west connection across theEuropean continent. It connects the key naval port ofBrest inFrance withMakhachkala, on theCaspian Sea in the Russian republicDagestan.

Outlook

Half the route comprises highways and the other half provincial roads. The route is some 6,000 kilometres (3,700 mi) long and runs fully across the European continent.

It is one of the longest E roads on the continent.

Since 2014, parts of the road in easternUkraine have been under the control of the separatistDonetsk People's Republic andLugansk People's Republic. During the2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine,Russia tookdirect control of the areas inDonbas.
