Erika Geiss is aDemocratic politician fromMichigan currently representing the1st Senate district. Geiss previously represented the6th senate district.

Biography

Geiss is the granddaughter ofAfro-Panamanian immigrants.[1] She attendedBrandeis University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology. She went on to receive a master’s degree in art and architectural history atTufts University.[2]

She previously served in theMichigan House of Representatives for the12th district – which comprisesRomulus,Taylor and part ofVan Buren Township – in theMichigan House of Representatives after being elected inNovember 2014.[3][4] She succeeded her husband,Doug Geiss, in office in the 12th district.[5]

She was elected to the6th District of theMichigan Senate in 2019, and to the1st District in 2023.[6]
