TheEncampment River Wilderness is a designated wilderness area located in south centralWyoming in theUnited States. Entirely withinMedicine Bow National Forest, the wilderness was designated to increase protection of the Encampment River and the canyon through which it flows.
U.S. Wilderness Areas do not allowmotorized ormechanized vehicles, includingbicycles. Althoughcamping andfishing are allowed with a proper permit, no roads or buildings are constructed and there is also nologging ormining, in compliance with the 1964Wilderness Act. Wilderness areas withinNational Forests andBureau of Land Management areas also allowhunting in season.
