El Haouaria Airfield is an abandoned military airfield inTunisia, located approximately 44 km northeast ofTāklisah; about 40 km east ofTunis. It was a temporary airfield constructed by theUnited States Army Corps of Engineers in 1943 during theTunisian Campaign in theSecond World War.
El Haouaria was used primarily by theUnited States Army Air ForceNinth Air Force324th Fighter Group during June through early October 1943, flyingP-40 Warhawks. After the 324th left forMenzel Heurr Airfield, the airfield was dismantled and abandoned. Today[when?], only remains of the runway are visible in aerial photography.
