East District (Chinese:東區;pinyin:Dōng Qū) is an urbandistrict inTaichung,Taiwan. It was a part of Taichung City before the City and County were merged in 2010.[1]
The district used to be part of the Taichungprovincial city before the merger withTaichung County to form the Taichungspecial municipality on 25 December 2010.
East District is divided into 17 villages, which are: Xinzhuang, Zhenxing, Tungqiao, Tungxing, Quanyuan, Gancheng, Hanxi, Lecheng, Tungmen, Shijia, Tungying, Tungnan, Tungshi, Gezuo, Furen, Futai and Tungxin.[2]
The district is served theJingwu andTaichung stations of theTaiwan Railways Administration.
