Dylan Avery Holmes (born 22 March 1997) is an Australian professional women'sfootballer who plays as amidfielder forAdelaide United in theA-League Women.
Holmes was born to English and American parents inSão Paulo, Brazil. Throughout her childhood, Holmes spent time living in northern California,Santiago andIlo.[1] In 2007, Holmes moved toAdelaide,South Australia. She attendedScotch College and[2] graduated in 2014 after doing well academically[3][4] and being captain in her final year. Her home town isHeathfield, in theAdelaide Hills.[2]
Holmes returned toAdelaide United[5][6] for the first time since the 2014W-League season where as she played only seven games. She played her first game for the season in a 0–0 againstMelbourne Victory.
In February 2019, Holmes returned toAdelaide City ahead of the 2019 WNPL (Women's National Premier Leagues) season.[7]
Holmes joined Swedish reigning championsHäcken ahead of the 2021 season, viewing the move as an opportunity "to play European football at a very high level".[8]
In December 2021, after making 15 appearances in all competitions forHäcken, Holmes returned to Australia, re-joiningAdelaide United for the remainder of the2021–22 A-League Women season.[9]
Holmes made her debut for theAustralian national team on 13 April 2021, playing the second half of a 5–0 loss to theNetherlands in a friendly.[10]
