Duun is aMande language ofMali. There are three varieties of Duun,West Duun, orDuungooma (also known as Du, Samogho-sien) andBanka orBankagooma, inMali, andEast Duun, orDzùùn(goo), inBurkina Faso. These are clearly distinct but have a reasonable degree ofmutual intelligibility with each other.

Dialects of East Duun, Kpan (Kpango, Samoro-guan) andDzùùngoo (Samogo-iri), are easily intelligible.

Phonology

The phonology of the Dunn languages contains 26consonants and 12vowels.[2] The following phonemes are in theInternational Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
