Juan Rafael Cortés Santiago, known asDuquende (born 1965 inSabadell, Spain[1]), is a SpanishRomaniflamenco singer (cantaor). He is considered one of the successors to influential Flamenco singerCamarón de la Isla.[1] Since 1997, Duquende has been a member of thePaco de Lucía Sextet in addition to working as a solo artist.[1]
In 1995, Duquende was the first cantaor to be invited to perform at theChamps Elysées theatre inParis.[1]
In 2000, he performed with theNaumburg Orchestral Concerts, in the Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park, in the summer series.[2]
