Dunthorne is a smalllunarimpact crater that is located to the northwest of the smalllunar mare calledPalus Epidemiarum, in the southwest part of theMoon's near side. It was named after British astronomerRichard Dunthorne.[1] It lies to the southwest of the craterCampanus, east ofVitello. Due south isRamsden.

This crater is roughly circular and bowl-shaped, with an interior that has a higheralbedo than the surroundingterrain. It lies in a region that has a number ofrille systems, with the Rimae Hippalus to the northwest, and the Rimae Ramsden to the south and east.
