Drumnakilly (Irish:Droim na Coille, "Ridge of the Wood").[1]) is a smallvillage andtownland betweenCarrickmore andOmagh inCounty Tyrone,Northern Ireland. In the2001 Census it had a population of 114 people. The townland is situated in the historicbarony ofStrabane Upper and thecivil parish ofTermonmaguirk and covers an area of 1,352 acres.[2] It lies within theOmagh District Council area.
On 30 August 1988 aProvisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) detachment wasambushed by the British Army in Drumnakilly whilst attempting to kill an off-duty member of theUlster Defence Regiment, leading to the deaths of the IRA members.[3]
