It was released in Japan on May 31, 2015, and North America, Europe, and Australia on June 11, 2015.[2] It is the seventh game in theDr. Mario series, and is part of the largerMario franchise.
Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure was released exclusively on theNintendo 3DS eShop service; but was removed and made impossible to download from the shop on March 27, 2023, following its closure. Critical reception was average. The game was preceded byDr. Luigi, which inspired gameplay elements ofDr. Mario: Miracle Cure.
Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure is afalling block tile-matching video game. Its five-game modes each have optional power-ups. The first mode, "Dr. Mario", has the traditional rules of theDr. Mario series. In "Dr. Luigi", two different capsules joined into L-shaped configurations are dropped into the playing field (as in the "Operation L" mode ofDr. Luigi (2013) forWii U). These modes have single player and competitive multiplayer modes. "Virus Buster", a game mode inDr. Mario Online Rx andDr. Luigi, is played by holding theNintendo 3DS vertically and using the touchscreen to drag the capsules. The online mode utilized the defunctNintendo Network service. Finally, the debuting "Miracle Cure Laboratory" mode features several set challenges. Unlike previous entries in the series, the soundtrack is not selectable, and has random songs fromDr. Mario Online Rx andDr. Luigi.
