Dongshan District (Chinese:东山区;Wade–Giles:Tung1shan1 Chʻü1;Jyutping:dung1 saan1 keoi1) was a former district inGuangzhou, Guangdong, China located to the west ofTianhe District and the east ofYuexiu District. It was the political and cultural centre of Guangdong Province[1] and noted for its high-quality education.[2] The district was established in 1960, then merged withYuexiu District in 2005.[3]
