Dongshan District (Chinese:东山区;Wade–Giles:Tung¹shan¹ Chʻü¹;Jyutping:dung1 saan1 keoi1) was a former district inGuangzhou, Guangdong, China located to the west ofTianhe District and the east ofYuexiu District. It was the political and cultural centre of Guangdong Province^[1] and noted for its high-quality education.^[2] The district was established in 1960, then merged withYuexiu District in 2005.^[3]
