Death of a Tea Master (Japanese:千利休 本覺坊遺文,Sen no Rikyu: Honkakubô ibun also known asSen no Rikyū: Honkakubo's Student Writings) is a 1989 Japanesebiographicaldrama film directed byKei Kumai.[1] It is based on real life events ofSen no Rikyū during the lateMuromachi period, particularly the events surrounding hisritual suicide. It was entered into the main competition at the46th Venice International Film Festival, in which it won theSilver Lion.[2][3]
