Davood Ghadami (Persian:داوود قدمی; born 7 August 1982) is a British actor. Following his appearances inTaggart in 2010, he appeared in theBBC medical programmesDoctors andCasualty in recurring roles. In 2014, he began portraying the role ofKush Kazemi in the BBC soap operaEastEnders, a role he stayed in until 2021 when the character was killed off. Following Ghadami's departure fromEastEnders, it was announced that he had joined the cast of the BBC medical dramaHolby City as Eli Ebrahimi.

Early and personal life

Ghadami was born on 7 August 1982 in Harlow, Essex.[1] He is ofIranian andEnglish heritage.[2] He found it difficult at school, since being mixed race led to verbal bullying.[1] He subsequently moved toSaint Nicholas School in Old Harlow. In 2010, Ghadami married long-term girlfriend Isobel; the pair have two daughters together.[1] Ghadami announced onInstagram in 2025 that he and his wife had separated in 2023.

Career

In 2010, Ghadami portrayed the role of Duncan Clark in the final series of theITV detective dramaTaggart. He found the role challenging, since it involved looking at photos of genuine crime scenes.[1] Following this, he appeared in theBBC soap operaDoctors in the recurring role ofAran Chandar from 2012 to 2013.[3]

From 2013 to 2014, he appeared in the BBC medical dramaCasualty as Ramin Tehrani.[4] Other television credits includeLife's Too Short,Law & Order,Skins Redux,Doctor Who,Top Boy,Fast Freddie,Silent Witness,Criminal Justice andSpooks.[1]

On stage, he has played Amir in13 atThe National, as well as working forYork Theatre Royal andPilot Theatre.[5]

In 2014, Ghadami joined the cast ofEastEnders as series regularKush Kazemi,[6] for which he won the award for Best Newcomer at theTV Choice Awards. He was also nominated forBest Newcomer andBest Actor atThe British Soap Awards.[7]

In August 2017, Ghadami was announced as a contestant for thefifteenth series ofStrictly Come Dancing.[8] He was partnered with professional dancerNadiya Bychkova.[9] They were eliminated in week 11 of the competition, in the quarter-finals.

In April 2021, it was announced that Ghadami had joined the cast of the BBC medical dramaHolby City as Eli Ebrahimi.[5]
