American paleontologist
ProfessorDavid Bruce Weishampel (born November 16, 1952) is an Americanpalaeontologist in the Center for Functional Anatomy and Evolution atJohns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Weishampel received hisPh.D. inGeology from theUniversity of Pennsylvania in 1981. His research focuses includedinosaur systematics, European dinosaurs of the LateCretaceous, jaw mechanics andherbivory, cladistics andheterochrony and the history ofevolutionary biology. Weishampel's best known published work isThe Dinosauria University of California Press; 2nd edition (December 1, 2004). He consulted forJurassic Park and is a good friend ofSteven Spielberg. He has received anAcademy Scientific and Technical Award.
