David Mabibolla Taghinejad (born 15 April 1985), known professionally asDavid Tag, is an English actor. He is known for portraying the role ofSylver McQueen in theChannel 4soap operaHollyoaks from June 2018 until January 2022.

Career

Tag studied at theManchester School of Acting between 2012 and 2017, during which time he made his acting debut in an episode of theChannel 4 soap operaHollyoaks asPSCO Rocco.[1] After graduating in 2017, he appeared as Darryl in an episode of theITV soap operaEmmerdale, a customer inthe Woolpack.[2]

In 2018, Tag returned toHollyoaks and was cast in the regular role ofSylver McQueen.[3][4] He was introduced as the brother of established characterGoldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey) and the son ofBreda McQueen (Moya Brady).[5][6] The character's storylines in the soap included the discovery that he was adopted and that his adoptive mother Breda was a serial killer had killed his biological father and his stepfather, which ultimately resulted in Sylver killing her in self defence, his marriage toMercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and the revelation that he was the father ofCher Winters (Bethannie Hare). Tag left the soap in January 2022 and the character waskilled off after being left to die by his stepsonBobby Costello (Jayden Fox).[7][8][9][10]

In 2020, Tag portrayed Thomas in theLGBTQ+ themed short filmS.A.M. alongsideSam Retford and George Webster.[11] In 2021, he appeared alongside Retford again in the short filmWhite Wedding, in which he played the role of a vampire prince.[12] From December 2021 to January 2022, he played the Ringleader in the pantomimeGoldilocks and the Three Bears at St Helens Theatre Royal and is set to reprise the role atEpstein Theatre between December 2022 and January 2023.[13][14] In 2022, he starred as Ted in the short filmHello, Death and as Mr J. in the documentaryDark Phones.[15][16] He also appeared in an episode ofMeet the Richardsons and was a contestant onPointless Celebrities alongside fellowHollyoaks actressJazmine Franks.[17]

Personal life

Since 2019, Tag has been in a relationship with beauty therapist Abi Harrison.[18] They announced the birth of their son in June 2021.[19][20] In April 2023, the couple announced they were expecting a second child.[21]
