DME, also known as3,4-dimethoxy-β-hydroxyphenethylamine, is a lesser-knownpsychoactive drug of theBOx family. It is the β-hydroxyderivative of3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine. DME was first synthesized byAlexander Shulgin. In his bookPiHKAL, the minimum dosage is listed as 115 mg, and the duration unknown. DME produces few to no effects.[1] Very little data exists about the pharmacological properties, metabolism, and toxicity of DME.
This substance is a Class A drug in theDrugs controlled by the UK Misuse of Drugs Act.[2]
