TheRostelecom Cup (Russian:Кубок Ростелекома), previously known as theCup of Russia (Russian:Кубок России), was an annual internationalfigure skating competition held as part of theISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. It was organized by theFigure Skating Federation of Russia. Medals were awarded inmen's singles, women's singles,pair skating, andice dance.
The event adopted the nameRostelecom Cup in 2009 after its title sponsor. It was dropped in 2010,[1] but returned in 2011. The Rostelecom Cup was a successor to thePrize of Moscow News, an annual elite international event held in theSoviet Union from 1966 to 1990.
In April 2022, the ISU cancelled the 2022 Rostelecom Cup, which was to have been held in November. This decision was made in response to the recommendation of theInternational Olympic Committee to ban Russia and Belarus from hosting international athletic competitions after theRussian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
