Crook City (also known asCamp Crook II or simplyCrook) is a populated place inLawrence County,South Dakota, United States.[1] The population was 132 at the2020 census.[2] It became acensus-designated place prior to the 2020 census.[1]

Crook City was named for GeneralGeorge Crook's 1876 camp there. Nearby and betweenDeadwood andSturgis is Crook Mountain, also named for him.

Education

It is mostly inSpearfish School District 40-2, and partially in theMeade School District 46-1.[3]
