Thecostoclavicular ligament, also known as therhomboid ligament orHalsted's ligament, is aligament of theshoulder girdle. It is short, flat, andrhomboid in form. It is the major stabilizing factor of thesternoclavicular joint and is the axis of movement of the joint, especially during elevation of the clavicle.[1][2]
Attached below to the upper and medial part of thecartilage of thefirst rib, it ascends at an angle posteriorly and laterally, and is fixed above to thecostal tuberosity on the inferior aspect of theclavicle.[3]
It is in relation, in front, with the tendon of origin of thesubclavius; behind, with thesubclavian vein.[4]
