TheClear Fork is a principaltributary of theMohican River, 36.6 miles (58.9 km) long,[3] in north centralOhio in theUnited States. Via the Mohican,Walhonding,Muskingum andOhio Rivers, it is part of thewatershed of theMississippi River, draining an area of 219 square miles (570 km2).[3] According to theGeographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as "Clear Creek" and as "Clear Fork Mohecan Creek".[1]

The Clear Fork rises in northeasternMorrow County and flows generally eastwardly through southernRichland andAshland Counties, past the towns ofLexington,Bellville andButler, and throughMohican State Park. It joins theBlack Fork to form the Mohican River in Ashland County, about 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest ofLoudonville.[4]

Upstream of Lexington, a 1949dam causes the river to formClear Fork Reservoir, which provides drinking water to the city of Mansfield.[5] In Ashland County, a 1936U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dam causes the river to formPleasant Hill Lake.[6]
