Chrysondyon (Ancient Greek:Χρυσονδύων[1]) was an ancient town in the southernIllyrian region ofDassaretia, mentioned byPolybius in the 2nd century BC in the accounts of theIllyrian Wars andMacedonian Wars.[2][3][4][5] The location of the ancient town is still unknown.[4] It was probably situated betweenLychnidus andAntipatrea.[6]
Along withAntipatrea,Gertous andCreonion, Chrysondyon was one of the Dassaretan towns (also described ascastella) around which theIllyrian dynastSkerdilaidas and theMacedonian kingPhilip V fought in 217 BC.[2][5] The settlement of Chrysondyon was evidently walled.[5]
