Christina Pluhar (born 1965,Graz, Austria) is an acclaimedtheorbist, harpist, conductor, and the founder of the renowned early music ensembleL'Arpeggiata.[1][2]

She discovered her passion forearly music while studying at theUniversity of Graz and went on to specialize in thelute, theorbo, andBaroque guitar. She refined her craft at theRoyal Conservatory of The Hague and theSchola Cantorum Basiliensis,[2] studying under distinguished musicians such asToyohiko Satoh,Eugen Dombois,Hopkinson Smith,Paul O'Dette,Pat O'Brien, andJesper Bøje Christensen. Additionally, she mastered the BaroqueArpa Doppia at the Scuola Civica di Milano underMara Galassi.

In 1992, as a member ofEnsemble La Fenice, Pluhar won first prize at the Festival of Early Music inMalmö.[2] Since then, she has been based inParis, performing both as a soloist and as a sought-afterbasso continuo player in theBaroque music scene. In 2000, she foundedL'Arpeggiata, an ensemble that has since gained international recognition, performing at major festivals and producing acclaimed recordings.[2]

Beyond her performance career, Pluhar is a dedicated educator. Since 1999, she has taught Baroque harp at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and regularly leads masterclasses at the University of Graz.
