Christian David ThomasFRES FRS (born 9 September 1959) is a past president of theRoyal Entomological Society.[1] He is also Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity at theUniversity of York.[2]
He completed his first degree (BA) inApplied Biology at theUniversity of Cambridge, followed by an MSc in Ecology at the University of Bangor and aPhD at theUniversity of Texas at Austin.[3] A Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of York, he also serves as director of the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity, a new £10 million transdisciplinary research centre funded for 10 years from 2019.[4] In July 2012, he was elected as aFellow of the Royal Society.[5]
