TheChapadmalalan age is a period ofgeologic time (4.0–3.0Ma) within thePliocene epoch of theNeogene used more specifically withSouth American Land Mammal Ages. It follows theMontehermosan and precedes theUquian age.[1]
Fossils ofJosephoartigasia magna, a rodent in the familyDinomyidae from this age have been found in southernUruguay.[2]
