Carter D. Hartwig[1] (born February 27, 1956) is a formerAmerican footballcornerback andsafety in theNational Football League (NFL).[2]
Hartwig playedhigh school football atCentral High School inFresno, California.[3] He then playedcollege football for theUSC Trojans, where he was part of the1976 Trojan team andthe 1978 Trojan team that both earned a share from some national selectors as the National Champion under head coachJohn Robinson.
Hartwig played in theHula Bowl andSenior Bowl collegiate all-star games after his senior year. He was future Houston Oilers Head CoachJeff Fisher's roommate at USC.
He married Carolyn Eaton and they had one son.
Hartwig was an 8th round pick (214th overall) by theHouston Oilers in the1979 NFL draft.[4] He played for the Oilers from1979 to1984.
Hartwig ran a business in Arizona and has since retired.
