TheCampaign Life Coalition (sometimes shortened toCampaign Life) is a Canadian political lobbyist organization founded in 1978.[1] Based inHamilton,Ontario,[2] the organization advocates forsocially conservative values.[3] Campaign Life Coalition opposesabortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research,in vitro fertilization,same-sex marriage, andtransgender rights legislation.[4][5][6]

Ontario politics

At the provincial level inOntario, Campaign Life helped to establish and initially supported theFamily Coalition Party (FCP).[7] Following the FCP's name change to theNew Reform Party of Ontario and the election ofPatrick Brown as the new leader of theProgressive Conservative Party of Ontario in 2015, the CLC appeared to switch support to the Ontario PCs. The CLC endorsed Brown's bid for the leadership, along with the other social conservative leadership candidateMonte McNaughton, and released a statement congratulating Brown on his victory.[8][9] The group later became critical of Brown after he publicly announced that he would not repeal the new provincial sex education curriculum changes if he became premier.[10]
