Brooke Kerith Satchwell is an Australian actress and former model. She is known for playingAnne Wilkinson in the soap operaNeighbours from 1995 until 2000. She won theLogie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 1998. Since leavingNeighbours, Satchwell has starred inWhite Collar Blue,Tripping Over,Dangerous,Packed to the Rafters,Wonderland, andMr Inbetween. She has also been a panellist onThe Panel andDirty Laundry Live, as well as a team captain onShow Me the Movie!.
Satchwell lived inTeesdale, Victoria, for most of her early life and has one sibling. She attendedToorak College.[1][2]
Satchwell started acting in 1994 when a casting agent suggested she model in a few television advertisements. She also appeared in theAustralian Broadcasting Corporation musicalHarriet.[3] After she had completed work on an advertisement forJust Jeans, a make-up artist advised Satchwell to get an agent. A year later she successfully auditioned for the role ofAnne Wilkinson in the daily televisionsoap operaNeighbours.[4] Satchwell decided to leaveNeighbours after three years, as she wanted a change. She filmed her final scenes in December 1999 and they aired in April 2000.[5] AfterNeighbours, Satchwell filmed a small role in the independent filmRadio Samurai.[5] She also relocated to Sydney to appear in a production ofThe Caribbean Tempest at theRoyal Botanic Garden alongsideAlex Dimitriades andBill Hunter.[5] Television roles inWater Rats,White Collar Blue andTripping Over followed.[6]
After an appearance onThe Panel, Satchwell was later invited back as a panellist.[6] She modelled forPantene and was signed to act as their brand ambassador in 2004.[7] She received her first lead role in a film inSubdivision, which was released in cinemas on 20 August 2009. In 2012, Satchwell joined the cast of drama seriesPacked to the Rafters as Frankie, an electrician and employee of Dave Rafter.[6] In 2013, she became a regular panellist on celebrity gossip, comedy showDirty Laundry Live.[6] That same year, Satchwell joined the cast ofWonderland as lawyer Grace Barnes.[8] After three seasons,Wonderland was cancelled due to falling ratings.[9] Satchwell has appeared in some episodes of children's television showPlay School.[10]
In 2014, Satchwell made a guest appearance on sketch comedy seriesBlack Comedy, as Tiffany.[11] She reprised the character in the second series in 2016.[12] She also appeared in theJack Irish series.[13] 2018 saw Satchwell make guest appearances onHughesy, We Have a Problem,[14] and the SBS dramaDead Lucky.[15] She also plays Ally, the girlfriend of hit-man Ray Shoesmith, in the black comedy-dramaMr Inbetween.[16] Towards the end of the year, Satchwell replacedJane Harber as team captain for the second season of comedy panel showShow Me the Movie!.[17]
Satchwell plays park ranger Miranda Gibson, the estranged daughter of Laura Gibson (Sigrid Thornton), in the revival series ofSeaChange.[18] Satchwell admitted that she almost missed the casting call, as she was moving house.[19] The actress flew between Sydney and Byron, Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads to filmSeaChange and the second season ofMr Inbetween.[18]
In 2024, Satchwell appeared inTriple Oh!.[20]
Satchwell has promoted charity work as a fundraiser for theStarlight Children's Foundation Gift of a Lifetime,[21] and in joining the fight against sand mining of Sydney's historicKurnell sand dunes.[22]
In 2009, Satchwell supported Power Shift, a climate-change conference for young people held in Sydney.[23]
Satchwell's five-year relationship with actorMatthew Newton ended in 2006. Newton was charged with four offences including common assault, intimidation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Satchwell. Three of the charges were withdrawn by prosecutors, Newton pleading guilty on the remaining charge of common assault.[24]
On 26 November 2008, Satchwell was in a building which was attacked by terrorists in the2008 Mumbai attacks. She hid in a cupboard until gunfire ceased.[25]
Satchwell was engaged to film editor David Gross from 2012 until 2019.[26][19] In 2015, she stated that long times separated by distance made it hard for them to ever set a date for the wedding.[27]
