Brandon ElliotBoston Jr. (born November 28, 2001) is an American professionalbasketball player for theNew Orleans Pelicans of theNational Basketball Association (NBA). He playedcollege basketball for theKentucky Wildcats.

High school career

Boston originally attendedNorcross High School inNorcross, Georgia before transferring toSierra Canyon School in theLos Angeles neighborhood ofChatsworth in 2019. He played alongsideLeBron James's sonBronny James andDwyane Wade's sonZaire Wade.[1] In his final season at Norcross, he averaged 18.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.[2]

He was selected to play in the2020 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. He was also selected to play in the 2020Jordan Brand Classic.[3]

College career

In his college debut on November 25, 2020, Boston posted 15 points and seven rebounds in an 81–45 win overMorehead State.[6] He scored 21 points in the season finale win againstSouth Carolina. As a freshman, he averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. On March 20, 2021, Boston declared for the2021 NBA draft, forgoing his remaining college eligibility.[7]

Professional career

Los Angeles / Agua Caliente / Ontario Clippers (2021–2024)

Boston was selected in the second round of the2021 NBA draft with the 51st pick by theMemphis Grizzlies, then traded to theLos Angeles Clippers via theNew Orleans Pelicans.[8][9]

Boston was assigned to the Clippers'NBA G League affiliate, theAgua Caliente Clippers, for their G League season-opener. Boston helped the since-relocated Ontario Clippers win theG League Winter Showcase championship in 2022, earning Showcase Cup MVP honors after scoring 21 points in the final.[10]

On August 8, 2024, Boston signed with theSan Antonio Spurs,[11][12] but was waived on October 19.[13]

New Orleans Pelicans / Birmingham Squadron (2024–present)

On October 21, 2024, Boston was claimed off waivers by theNew Orleans Pelicans, who later converted his deal into atwo-way contract.[14] On February 26, 2025, the Pelicans signed Boston to a standard, two-year contract.[15] He made 42 appearances (10 starts) for New Orleans during the2024–25 NBA season, averaging 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. On April 28, it was announced that Boston had undergonearthroscopic surgery on his left ankle.[16]

Personal life

After a workout with Kentucky teammateTerrence Clarke on April 22, 2021, Clarke was involved in a car crash inLos Angeles, California.[17] Clarke, driving by himself, was killed while Boston, in the car behind of Clarke, witnessed the crash.[18][19]

He also keeps a dollar bill in his shoe during games.[20]
