Borotutu istraditional medicine made from theAfrican treeCochlospermum angolense. It is widespread in parts ofAngola, where it is known asmburututu in theChokwe andKimbundu languages.[1]

Uses

Borututu bark is claimed to havehepatic healing properties and a general cleansing effect. Borotutu bark pills andherbal teas are sold in health stores. The bark showed activity against therodentmalaria parasitePlasmodium berghei in laboratory tests.[2]

In Ghana, where the bark locally known aspaajawu, it is added toShea Butter during the boiling process for a vibrant yellow coloring.
