TheBorough of Boothferry was, from 1 April 1974 to 1 April 1996, alocal government district withborough status within thenon-metropolitan county ofHumberside. The district is now split between theEast Riding of Yorkshire andNorth Lincolnshire.
The borough was formed from parts of threeadministrative counties: from theWest Riding of Yorkshire came the former borough ofGoole andGoole Rural District, from theEast Riding of Yorkshire cameHowden Rural District and fromLincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey cameIsle of Axholme Rural District.
The district was named after the village ofBoothferry, site of abridge over theRiver Ouse, near the centre of the borough. The council established its headquarters at Bank Chambers in the centre of Goole.
At abolition, the district consisted of the followingcivil parishes:[4]
